A New Gaze 2 – 2019

About Kelvin Haizel

Kelvin Haizel was born in Ghana in 1987 and presently lives and works in the capital city, Accra. He is interested in the contemporary state of the image and expresses his ideas through video, photography and installations.

Haizel earned a BFA in Painting and Sculpture from the College of Art at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana, followed by an MFA from the same university. His works have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions in his Ghanaian homeland as well as in Nigeria, Mozambique, France and Portugal. From December 2, 2017 to January 31, 2018, his work "things and nothings" was shown at the 11th Rencontres de Bamako, Biennale Africaine de la Photographie, which was entitled "Afrotopia". In addition, at the Lagos Biennale 2017, Kelvin Haizel was a guest curator.
